Utne Reader senior editor Keith Goetzman is a veteran journalist who has worked for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Rake, the Twin Cities Reader, and many other publications. He oversees Utne Reader’s arts coverage and has covered subjects including Afrobeat, midwifery, genetically modified trees, and the FCC for the magazine. He hopes one day to write a book, but in the meantime is content to have had his 2001 Utne Reader article “The Late, Great Outdoors” reprinted in the college writing textbook the Allyn & Bacon Guide to Writing. Keith lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two young sons and enjoys biking, hiking, canoeing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, and, perversely, jumping through a hole in the ice after taking a sauna.
