Hannah Lobel hails from Dallas, Texas, a fact that routinely perplexes most people born north of the Red River. She went to college in Grinnell, Iowa, and earned a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism. Hannah has reported for the Associated Press, Berlin’s Der Tagesspiegel, the Island Packet of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Cape Town’s Cape Argus, and KPFA/Pacifica Radio in Berkeley, California—jobs that have taken her across the globe and left her cat with a severe personality disorder. Hannah’s recent accomplishments include writing about Israel, obesity, and America’s fallen standing in the world without seeking refuge in an opium den. She is the associate editor of Utne Reader and managing editor of Utne.com. Despite the weather, she’s glad she was lured to Minnesota by her multitalented husband, Roy.
